"After reading about HeSheng we went for lunch. What a wonderful gem. You need to look carefully as it has a small entrance. The service was very friendly. We started with the famous Xiao-Long Bao. It’s small bao’s filled with pork and a soup. It is really good. Then we had the prawn noodle. There was actually a decent amount of prawn in the dish. We also had the black bean beef - very authentic flavour. I can definitely recommend HeSheng"

"It's a good idea to have hot tea and dimsum in winter. (Be careful the food is hot) you can eat these for a break. Also, this restaurant has a lot of Chinese food. The taste isn't too strong that everyone can eat easily."

"Ate their soup dumplings (xiao long bao). Super tasty - want to come back with friends and try all their dishes! The waiter recommended soup dumplings, cucumber salad, beef flank soup noodles, wonton soup noodles. Also want to try their spring onion pancake. Their dumplings look so pretty and they have round tables with a little spinning round thing in the middle for easy sharing with a group."

"WOW! What an amazing experience at HeSheng Chinese Restaurant. From the effecient and very friendly service to the outstanding quality of the food and great atmosphere. My wife and I had dumpling starters followed by the Black Bean Chicken, Sweet & Sour pork and the Salt and Pepper Calamari with Onions and a bowl of egg fried rice. Generous portions at affordable prices. A taste sensation! Highly recommended. We will certainly be back soon."

"Updated review 14 May 2024. Small family restaurant - new owners from about a year or so ago. . No frills or fancy decor.. The menu is still pretty much the same. We love the won ton soup noodles, roll beef cakes. Their dumplings (sui long bao) is absolutely the winner. The new owners are very friendly. ."

"We're a British-Chinese family of four and were recommended this Chinese eatery by friends in to Cape Town to give it a try. We're really glad we did, as the food was simple yet delicious! The broth inside the xiaolongbao is one of the best we've had in years, and we really liked the "tofu with dark egg" dish (which is silken tofu served cold with century egg). The only thing that was let it down was the pak choi, which felt like it was an old batch of greens used, but otherwise the taste of everything was really good! I'd recommend to any Asian/Oriental families wanting a quick and delicious reminder of Eastern food on their travels."
